1. What is the difference between Novalideck® Premium and CoolDeck? Both lines share the same high-quality foundation: seamless, cast aliphatic polyurethane (PU) of superior quality. The main difference lies in the added functionality: the Cooldeck version features patented technology that minimizes heat absorption and is significantly lighter in weight. The Premium line offers the same aesthetics and durability but without this specific thermal and weight upgrade.
2. Does Novalideck® get less hot than real wood or PVC? Yes, absolutely. Both our Premium and CoolDeck variants are made of PU, which naturally retains less heat than traditional PVC decks. If you choose CoolDeck technology, the deck remains up to 10°C cooler in direct sunlight than comparable synthetic materials, ensuring optimal comfort for bare feet.
3. Why is Novalideck® more durable than other synthetic decks? Most synthetic decks consist of PVC planks that are welded together. Novalideck® is cast as a completely seamless PU sheet. This eliminates weak points (seams) that could leak, peel, or crack over time. Additionally, our material is free from harmful plasticizers (phthalates), meaning it does not become brittle and has a much longer lifespan.
4. Can I have my own logo or custom design integrated into the deck? Yes, that is one of our specialties. Thanks to our advanced AutoCAD software and CNC milling technology, we can realize almost any design. Whether it’s a classic plank pattern, a modern layout, a unique logo, or your vessel's name, we fully customize every panel for you.
5. Are there extra costs for integrating a logo or custom design? This depends on your specific requirements. If it is a minor adjustment that can be made using our standard options, there are no additional costs. Every request is reviewed individually, and any potential extra costs will always be communicated upfront.
6. What is the lead time? Lead time depends on when you approve our quote. You will receive an order confirmation and a down payment invoice. Work is scheduled once the down payment is received. You can always ask for a current estimate when requesting a quote.
7. Can I cancel after making the down payment? No. Once the down payment is received, the order is considered final. From that moment, we reserve production capacity in our planning and order the specific materials for your vessel from our suppliers. Due to the bespoke nature of our products and the reserved time, cancellation after down payment is not possible.
8. Do I get a warranty? Yes, we distinguish between two types of warranties:
Installation Warranty (Craftsmanship): If you choose our Full-Service, you receive a 1-year warranty. This covers issues such as delamination due to incorrect bonding, defects in caulking/joints, or improper edge finishing.
Material Warranty: This is covered by the manufacturer's warranty provided by Sika®.
9. Which adhesive should I use if I choose the Panel-Service? For a durable and high-quality bond, we recommend using only the approved Sika® products. The exact choice of adhesive system depends on your substrate (e.g., GRP/polyester, steel, or wood). We are happy to advise you on the correct products for your specific situation.
10. How thick is the material? Novalideck® is available in three standard thicknesses: 5 mm, 10 mm, and 15 mm. The most suitable thickness depends on the application and the technical situation on board. During a consultation, we will determine the optimal thickness for your vessel together.
11. Does the boat need to be indoors for installation, or can it stay in the water? Preferably, installation takes place in a dry, heated shed to ensure controlled conditions. After a personal assessment, we can determine if installation in the water is feasible. For perfect adhesion, the following conditions are essential: a temperature between 10°C and 25°C and a maximum humidity of 75%.
